Weasel in a Hard Hat Holding Building Plans

WeaselWorks roles keep things simple: WordPress administrators set everything up, Workspace Leads look after the Boards, and Members do the work. Everyone sees only the buttons they can use.

In short: choose Member or Lead when you add someone on a Workspace's Members tab. To change it later, tick people and use Bulk Actions › Make Lead or Make Member.

What WeaselWorks Roles Can Do

Member Lead Admin
Add and edit tasks, comment ✓ ✓ ✓
Restore things from Trash ✓ ✓ ✓
Add, rename and delete Group Boards — ✓ ✓
Manage buckets and Board Settings — ✓ ✓
Delete anyone's tasks and comments — ✓ ✓

Add people and change settings — — ✓

Members can delete their own comments, tasks they own or created, and subtasks of tasks they own. Only Leads (and administrators) delete other people's comments. On their own Personal Boards, everyone has Lead powers. WordPress administrators can open every Workspace, even ones they aren't a member of.

The WeaselWorks Role

People you add as new get a WordPress role named WeaselWorks. It lets them sign in and use WeaselWorks, and nothing else on your site. WordPress's own roles, such as Editor or Subscriber, are explained in its roles and capabilities guide.

  • Removing someone from a Workspace keeps their WordPress account.
  • If you delete the WeaselWorks plugin, people with the WeaselWorks role become Subscribers, so their accounts are kept.
  • Which WordPress roles may use WeaselWorks at all is set under Organization Settings › Access.

Tip: make at least one trusted person a Lead in every Workspace, so someone can tidy Boards and buckets without needing administrator access.

Common Questions

Can a Workspace have more than one Lead?

Yes. Make as many people Leads as you like.

Can administrators be Workspace members?

Yes. Administrators can open every Workspace without being a member, but adding yourself puts you in the owner and reviewer lists and gets you notifications.
