Get Started

Get started in six simple steps, from installing the plugin to your team's first Board. There's nothing to host and no new service to sign up for: WeaselWorks runs inside the WordPress website you already have, and your team signs in with the accounts they already use.

What You Need

A WordPress website you can manage, and a few minutes. It can be your own website, or a private one just for WeaselWorks.

Don't have WordPress yet? Start here ›

  • WordPress 6.4 or newer (6.5 for WeaselWorks Pro)
  • PHP 8.0 or newer
  • An administrator account on your site
  • Your team's WordPress accounts (or create them as you go)

Get Started in Six Simple Steps

Do them in order and your team will be working in no time. Each step takes a minute or two, and you can change any setting later.

STEP 1

Install and Activate

In WordPress, go to Plugins › Add New Plugin › Upload Plugin, choose the WeaselWorks zip file, then click Install Now and Activate. Installing WeaselWorks walks you through it.

STEP 2

Set Up Your Organization

Open WeaselWorks › Organization Settings. Choose which WordPress roles can use WeaselWorks and check the sign-in page. Email Notifications are already on: set a From Email on your own domain (for example noreply@yourdomain.com), then send a Test Email. Add your name and logo under Organization Appearance.

STEP 3

Create Your Workspace

Go to WeaselWorks › Workspaces and add your first Workspace. WeaselWorks makes its page for you and adds a Getting Started Board with an example task.

STEP 4

Add Your Team

On the Workspace's Members tab, click Add People. WeaselWorks can create each person's account and email them an invitation, or add people who already have an account. Make one or more of them Workspace Leads to look after the Boards.

STEP 5

Open Your Workspace

Visit the Workspace page, or share the WeaselWorks entry page, which signs people in and takes them straight to their Workspace.

STEP 6

Start Working

Create Boards and buckets, add tasks and owners, and switch between Table and Kanban. Click the Help button (?) in the app any time for the Guide and shortcuts.
